Tips For Your Home Easy clean ups and spills: Fill up a container (one with a good sealing cover) with your favorite all-purpose cleaning solution and water (if it needs to be diluted). Cut up 1 or 2 of your old cloth diapers and store the cloths in the container. Now, when you need a quick clean-up all you have to do is grab one out and wipe away. These are awesome for anything from the kitchen counters to the bathroom! Kill annoying weeds in your sidewalk cracks by making up a mixture of salt and boiling water. Pour this over the weeds enough to saturate them and watch them die. Bring your houseplants back to life by removing the dust on them with a little dab of mayo rubbed over their leaves. To remove oil stains from the garage floor, spray them with oven cleaner and let them soak for about 20 mins. Scrub them with a brush and then rinse it thoroughly. To get crayon marks off of the wall, mix up 2 Tablespoons baking soda and 1 teaspoon of water. Make it into a paste and rub gently with a white cloth in circles until the marks are gone! Magic erasers also work great, but be careful not to remove paint. Get gum in clothes by freezing it and then scraping it off with a butter knife.
Old drawers make great gardens instead of fancy, expensive pots. Don't
buy fresh herbs, grow your own in a window box. Instead
of buying expensive tablecloths, find a material you like and
then stick/glue the edges to lay across the table.
Lay 2 from side to side, or make 1 big runner. If you
have extra material left over from your tablecloth, use them to
make napkin rings. Buy
"D" rings and loop the extra material around the napkins and
through the ring. An old
wooden ladder can be stained or painted and then opened and standing
to be a very inexpensive and unique display cabinet. Refill
your pepper shakers easily by placing tape over the holes so you
can tip them over to fill them up. New knobs
or handles can easily makeover your entire kitchen! Save or
buy a few baby food jars to organize nails, bolts and screws. Clean your glass showers with a damp dryer sheet. Next
time you carve pumpkins, save the seeds and bake them.
They're a great treat, especially with a little Lowry's seasoning
on them. Always
have an aloe plant in your home.
They're perfect for burns of all kinds. To save your pretty candles, just burn them a bit and place a tea light candle where it melted out a hole. From then on, just burn the tea light. Then you'll always have your pretty candles, but they'll still "burn".Instead of buying expensive window/mirror cleaners, get some dish soap and a squeegee! Dawn dish soap is said to be the best! Save
ALL the coupons you get! Set
dates with friends/ family/ relatives to get together and
"swap" your coupons. Great
way to save money and chances are, someone else could use your coupons! To
clean dishwasher pipes, try pouring kool-aid in the dishwasher!
Kool-aid can also clean your toilets! (
And we drink this stuff) Add an aspirin
or 2 to your fresh flowers to keep them longer. Put an old
t-shirt over top a broom and use this to dust your ceiling fans,
cobwebs, etc. in hard to reach areas. To make a cluttered bookshelf or pantry shelf look marvelous, cut some material to fit just over the front of it. Hem/glue all the edges and then apply velcro to the top corners. This will make that area ALWAYS look neat and clean. (even if it's not underneath!!) Make your own home air freshener! Spray your light bulbs with a bit of your favorite perfume. When you turn on the lamp, the heat from the bulb will give the room a soft smell! To clean your artificial flowers, pour some salt in a paper bag and then toss in your flowers. Close up the bag and shake it around. The salt will absorb the dust and dirt! Unclog your drains with alka-seltzer! Uh huh - and we drink this?! Put 2 tablets in the drain and pour 1/2 cup of vinegar over that. Let sit for a few minutes and then run hot water down the drain. Alka-seltzer also polishes your jewelry! Reuse a 6pk bottle holder for a condiment holder for all your outdoor parties! Reuse old pantyhose to make your own sachets! Cut them up, secure one end, fill 'em up and secure the other end. To keep necklaces from tangling - string them through a straw and then hook them. This way they won't all wind up together!
