PLEASE REMEMBER
that this is not medical advice and you should always consult a physician
before trying anything first.
I'm one of those moms that doesn't like to run to the medicine cabinet every
time that something is wrong.
Here we've made up a list of some great home remedies that have either been
submitted by our friends or are tried and true remedies.
BELLY
ACHE:
sip some creme de menthe. Mint
is said to have soothing qualities. (non-alcoholic, a sip of some mint syrup)
SUNBURN:
soak in a tub with some Nestea. Or
you can try applying some Noxzema.
Use your baby's teething ring to cool it down!
Or try soaking a paper towel in vinegar.
MOSQUITO
BITES:
try applying the peel from a banana to the bite.
( you can even keep some peels in your freezer during that time of the
year)
BEE
STINGS: mix
meat tenderizer and water to make a paste and apply that to the site of the
sting.
If you don't have meat tenderizer, try making a paste out of mud and
water. Or apply an onion to the area.
DANDRUFF:
use a fine tooth comb to gently "flake" off the dry skin on
your scalp. Apply a thick
conditioner and then a plastic bag and leave this on for 20 minutes.
You can also put a towel in the dryer to get it nice and warm and wrap
that around the bag. The heat helps
the conditioner penetrate your hair a little better.
BLADDER
INFECTIONS:
drinking cranberry
juice at the first sign of a bladder infection can help to keep it from getting
worse.
TIRED
FEET:
soak in a warm tub
with a few drops of tea tree oil. The
menthol and eucalyptus in the oil helps them to get "revived".
DRY
CRACKED HANDS:
apply some triple antibacterial ointment to the cracked areas.
Then apply some vaseline or Crisco to your hands.
MINOR
BURN:
try applying some Crest toothpaste or aloe vera.
HICCUPS:
cup your hands over your mouth and breathe in and out a few times. Carbon
dioxide is said to cure the hiccups.
STUFFY
NOSE:
1/4 cup of
apple cider vinegar and 1/4 cup of water. Get
this to boiling then make a tent over the boil and breathe in the steam.
ECZEMA: drinking tomato juice is said to help clear up eczema.
All you really need is 1% hydrocortisone.
GUM
ON CLOTHES:
place a damp paper towel over top the gum.
Set an iron to low/medium heat and iron over top the gum.
The gum should transfer from the clothes to the paper towel.
Then toss the paper towel! Or
try WD40.
HEMORRHOIDS:
take
vitamin B6 tablets. Or apply a red tomatoe slice to the hemmorrhoid to 30
seconds every day for a few days.
CANKER
SORES: swish
around some Mylanta for 15 seconds and spit it out. Or try coating the
sore with vaseline.
DRY
CRACKED LIPS:
apply some vaseline to your lips
EASE
A FOOT CRAMP:
on the top of your foot between the bones that run into the big toe and second
toe, rub in a cirucular motion for 60 seconds.
HEADACHE:
try cutting a lime in half and then rub it on the pounding area.
SPLINTERS:
instead of running for the tweezers, try placing a piece of scotch tape over the
splinter and then pulling off the tape. The splinter may come right out!
"BACNE":
also known as the acne on your back. Take 1 cup of hot water and 1/2 tsp
of salt. Saturate a cotton ball with this mixture and then dab it on your
back and let it dry. Do this once a day.
WATER
IN THE EAR: hold
a hair dryer set on low 1 foot away and aim it at your ear for 30 seconds to dry
it out.
TEETH
WHITENER: 1
mashed strawberry and 1/2 tsp baking powder mixed together. Spread
this on your teeth, let sit for 5 mins and then brush like usual.
Please remember that this is not medical advice, only common helpful
solutions. If you have a serious medical condition, please consult your
physician.
